Countryman Challenge in association with Sporting Shooter magazine
Welcome to the website of the newest and most exciting new shoot format seen in recent years, look out for the next Countryman Challenge, Coming in 2011.
If this sounds like you then we have a shooting discipline to suit. CountrySporting is an innovative new format see's shooters compete with both shotguns and air rifles over 120 exciting targets, all for a credit crunch busting £38. The innovation dosen't stop there though, our clay pigeon stands feature targets unlike anything seen in competition before. Enter the stand, call Pull and get ready for fast and furious shooting. With either two or three traps on each stand faithfully replicating actual quarry species you will get either simultaneous or following pairs launched randomly via our purpose built electronic trap control boxes. Don't worry though, there is a gap between the pairs to let you reload, but there's no time to dawdle, remember we want to replicate the real thing. Then you have the chance to try out your air rifle marksmanship over four Promatic Sharpshooter remote control simulated field target layouts, shooting ten targets on each before time runs out. Shoot from Kneeling (unsupported) sitting (supported) and Standing (supported and unsupported) over a mixture of layouts both in open country and woodland. Use your own rifle (Spring or pre-charged up to 12ft lbs) though if you don't have an air rifle or if you just fancy trying something new we have fabulous Air Arms pre charged rifles available for you to use.
Don't worry if you aren't a top clay shooter though, our competition classes mean that "Pro" Clay shooters who have been in CPSA Classes A - AAA must compete in a separate class for their own prize fund, leaving the main prizes split across Open, Ladies, Juniors (Under 16)and Parent & Child Classes.
It's an event you can bring the whole family to, with "Have-a-go" stands for both shotguns and air rifles, the Guerini Guns pool shoot and the Running Boar simulator as well as other entertainment, there is plenty to do. A Trade Village with stands from the likes of BASC, UKShootWareHouse (Pigeon shooting supplies), Easy HIT UK, Promatic, and others as well as a Gun shop on site that specialises in Air rifles as well as shotguns means the Countryman Challenge should prove to be a real feast for the shooting enthusiast. It won't just be the sport that you want to sample though, with first rate catering from Sporting Shooters' very own top game chef Mark Gilchrist at prices that definately won't break the bank.
So if you consider yourself to be a Countryman, can handle a shotgun and an air rifle, can bring down a driven pheasant, a walked up snipe or a decoyed pigeon then we look forward to seeing you at this exciting new event that looks to be one of THE shooting competitions of 2009.
